Donald Trump Meets with Representatives from SEMC in Washington

Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, met cordially with representatives of the Sino-European Manufacturing Club (SEMC) in Washington at 5p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, including a group of twelve well-known Chinese entrepreneurs.

Among the Chinese entrepreneurs who attended the meeting were: Zhao Tao, Chairman of Buchang Pharma, Lin Gaobao, Chairman of Beijing Chujin Holding Group; Wang Weibin, Curator of Shenyu Art Museum; Li Dan, Chairman of Yonghe Shengshi Group; Yue Liu, Chairman of Jinxiao International Investment Co., Ltd.; Deng Jianqing, Chairman of Dongrun Huanneng Group; Xue Daorong, Vice President of Jiayu Group,Yu Jinlong, General Secretary of the founding shareholders of Air Business College, Liu Xiangyang, Chairman of Juyi International Group, Fan Yurong, Chairman of Haiya Investment Group, Wang Huiying Chairman of Beijing Longyue Mining Group, and Li Xiaoping, Chairman of Beijing Baiti Group. Another the other attendees were Li Xuerui, Chairman of Thompson Education Center (TEC) and Wang Lianbo, General Manager of TEC.

Trump warmly welcomed and met with each of the Chinese entrepreneurs. He shook hands and had a brief exchange with each of them before taking group photo.

During the meeting with President Trump, Zhao Tao, Chairman of Buchang Pharma and also the head of the delegation, made clear the purposes of the visit: The first, he said, was to promote the "Belt and Road" initiative. The second was to further cultural exchanges and promote business cooperation between China and America. Chairman Zhao said: “Chinese entrepreneurs are eager to engage in a variety of forms of practical cooperation with American entrepreneurs, and we also hope to promote the implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative, deepen the economic, trade and cultural cooperation between China and the United States. We cordially invite the president and American entrepreneurs to visit China and get to know our country better.”

President Trump offered his warm welcome to the Chinese entrepreneurs who aimed to promote the "Belt and Road" initiative and to deepen exchange and cooperation between China and the United States. He expressed that more Chinese entrepreneurs would seek cooperation and exchange opportunities with the United States.

This was the first time that Trump met with a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs since he officially became President of the United States. After the meeting, SEMC entrepreneurs were invited by President Trump and hundreds of American business and political leaders to attend a reception dinner with the president. During their visit to the US, the Chinese entrepreneurs of SEMC organised the "China-US Summit of Political & Business Leaders " and a gathering with the theme of " A Cultural Awakening: the Rise of China" held successively at the United States Capitol and the Harvard Club.  They also met with a number of American political and business leaders, including Ronna Romney McDaniel, Chair of the Republican National Committee, and Trump's chief lawyer to promote the " Belt and Road" project &"Chinese Dream" concepts as well as to demonstrate their confidence in their home country. These SEMC entrepreneurs were warmly welcomed and received by the American community.

In short, the visit of SEMC entrepreneurs marks the beginning of a new era and is a significant event in the history of China-US civil diplomacy.
